Greetings! Below is not set in stone but designed to give you an idea of what we intend to do. As some of you have noticed, we're not exactly "rushing". Like many of you, we want to take the time to create a truly massive RTS that is in the spirit of ground breaking games of the past (Total Annihilation for instance). 1Q2015 : Mantle / DirectX 12 prototype build. Demonstrate what we can do (read, thousands of units across a world) if we're unleashed. (complete) 2Q2015 : ...

Sorcerer King about to go gold In the next few days, Sorcerer King will go gold. That term means a lot less in the digital era since it’s just the moment that it’s 1.0 and we’re ready to say “this game is worthy of being purchased for the posted price.” I’m both excited and nervous about reviews. In the past, our games were designed with “drive by” reviews in mind. That is, they were fairly straight forward in what they’re about. Sorcerer King, however, i...
Introduction Welcome to Sorcerer King a different kind of fantasy 4X from what you’ve played before. Sorcerer King is a game where the events of a traditional fantasy 4X game have already happened: A group of rival civilizations built up empires fought wars with one of those civilizations coming to dominate the others. In this case, the winner was the Sorcerer King. The game starts out with you and your rivals relegated to a single city under the terms of peace set...
I’ll admit my bias here but Sorcerer King is extremely fun. What is it? It’s a fantasy strategy game with a lot of role playing elements. Or it’s an RPG with strategy elements. You be the judge: It’s a strategy game because You train units You found new cities You build up your cities You engage in diplomacy with rival civilizations You can terraform the map (using magic) You harvest resources You can craft weapons, a...
The Founder's program works around the ALPHA build of Ashes of the Singularity. If you are joining in the hopes of playing a fun game, don't. It's NOT fun yet. So who should join and why? We're mainly interested in these types of people to join: (1) Power Users. People who know tech and can give us a lot of feedback on the tech. (2) RTS experts. Particularly Total Annihilation, Company of Heroes, Starcraft 2 and SupCom veterans...
Sorcerer King continues to get polished up. I suspect it’s the most polished game we’ve ever made as we’ve had so much extra time to work on it. So what’s been happening? Originally, we were going to release Sorcerer King in April. But we talked to our friends at other studios and realized that the Age of Wonders expansion and Pillars of Eternity were coming out during the same month. That’s a lot of fantasy in a short amount of time. With Galactic Civili...
I just uploaded a Let's Play video of the May Alpha build. https://www.ashesofthesingularity.com/vault Please DO NOT share it but feel free to comment here. Thanks!
I think there’s a special place in hell for people who spend 90 hours playing a game only to tell others that it’s not worth playing.

The year is 2242. Humans have invented faster-than-light travel and a colony ship. This is their story The setup Along with the pre-made civilizations, using the in-game custom race creator, I have also made the Ur-Quan (from Star Control), the Angry Army (Angry Joe), and the Cynical Brits (Total Biscuit). I start with Earth. We are on one of the mid-spirals of the galaxy. And I rolled a good Earth! So it begins… By turn ...
Greetings! We're burning the midnight oil to make sure when we go gold we have the best game we can possibly deliver as 1.0. I hope you guys have enjoyed the early access program as much as we've enjoyed working with you guys. You've made a huge difference both in terms of making the game funner and helping make sure that what actually goes out is more like a v1.01 rather than the traditional 1.0 level of quality/stability. Here's a run-down of the things that are on our hot...
People have been asking about the campaign for Galactic Civilizations III. I will be talking a bit more this week about it but it is, in many respects, the opposite of what the traditional story/campaign experience is. In GalCiv III, the player starts with god-like power and slowly through the campaign sees it get diminished. The opening trailer for Galactic Civilizations III shows the Crusader. You start with that ship.
