The community. Seriously. While you may find jerks online in Demigod, all in all, it’s a great group.

Demigod v1.20 (1.20.140 on Impulse) -------------------------------- - Added new AI options - Added mod manager (everyone must have the same mods) - Added options to enable additional Demigods as the update rolls out - Fixes a serious desync that could potentially resolve a number of problem cases in MP. - Fixed TB’s ability to attack while moving in Fire Mode. - Additional optimizations for MP on "laggy" connections. Please no...

As some may recall, back in August we decided that v1.2 was going to be a much bigger project than originally believed and thus would be released in parts. Those parts included (but were not limited to): Replays New AI options In-lobby stats Balance tweaks Modding Various bug fixes Since then, the replays have been added, there’s been various balance tweaks, various bug fixes and today the in-lobby stats have been added. That still leaves quite a ...

If you’re feeling lucky you can try out the beta of an updated overlay. https://draginol.stardock.net/files/impulsereactor-100609.zip Unzip the files into your bin directory.  This is a beta, so back up the files you’re overwriting. If you’re non-technical and don’t know how to do this then wait until the official update. Very useful (like in my game, NeptunePisces, rage quitted in our game after insulting our team because he died, now I can make a note of that &l...

I was so hoping to have this to the public this week but there’s various doublebyte vs. unicode issues that have to be dealt with that is total grunt work but has to be done to make sure this works on all languages. Anyway, this isn’t a mockup but you can see what we’re going for.  In the lobby you’ll be able to learn a bit more about other players from within the game.

These are screenshots of yesterday’s internal release candidate for v1.19 which includes replays and other new features.  One of the things the Replay system has done for me is really appreciate the craftsmanship GPG’s art and developers put into this game.  The rook, self shadowing itself. Individual arrows firing out.  Being able to watch these battles at –10 speed is just amazing.

The next build is scheduled to be called v1.19 since it’s not quite v1.20 in features but has made substantial progress. For the past few weeks, various builds have been internally in beta as kinks and tweaks have been made by the GPG/Stardock teams. Here are some of the notes (this is by no means the whole list, just what’s passed into this particular build): Replays: · Replays can now be: o Chosen from Front end o Deleted from Front end o Created at end of ...

Greetings!  I’m currently at PAX, getting ready to head back.  New builds have been coming in from GPG.  Right now, they’re trying to get the replays nailed down.  I also asked about a number of player requests such as Torcher Bearer casting when running (the answer on that is that he’s not intended to be able to do that be design – some people will obviously disagree but there’s the answer). Some exploits have been addressed that I won’t get into here.  I won...

I’m thinking we should get rid of the “skirmish” mode.  Very few people use it and it only serves to divide the community. Instead, Pantheon would become the focus of ranked games and help build a larger base of players for it.  But in order to do that, we have to deal with the problem of hyper-competitive people who quit games on start if they don’t get the person they want to play with. So I was thinking that on pantheon games, once someone disconnected more than 3 times an...

Greetings! I’m getting ready to get on a plane to go to San Francisco to visit with the media (gaming and non-gaming).  It’s been a crazy week getting all the different things together. I was hoping to get the second Demigod preview ready this week. If there’s some down time during the week, I’ll work on putting together the notes on it. Gas Powered Games is working on getting me some screenshots and such to begin showing them as we start to get near PAX (Penny Arcade Expo that’s ...

Did people think they’d have to wait until the August to start getting the meaty goodness of Demigod v1.2? I don’t know about you but I just don’t have that kind of patience. So instead, GPG and Stardock have decided to release the updates as they are completed. Internally, we’re doing testing and work on Replays and Rematches. Rematches are where your game ends and you just want to play again without all the fuss.  Replays are where you can go back and look at the game y...

All this week I watched GPG and Stardock QA going back and forth on the demo build. Just little things. We also went into great detail on the 2 new demigods that are in development. I am anticipating being able to go into significant detail on these in the next couple of weeks now that they’ve moved beyond a bunch of “assets” and are starting to come together. Tentatively we are looking at one general and one assassin. One will be of the forces of light and the other the forces of da...

Vacations are always over too fast. Ever wondered why games don’t tend to be released in the Spring or Summer? Besides the Winter being better for retail, the other thing, at least in software that I’m beginning to see is that it’s harder to get updates out quickly because that’s when people tend to go on vacation.  So it’s definitely been a slog getting updates out the door these past few weeks. It’s just as well because as games evolve, the needs of the game community change...

Greetings! Version 1.1 is out!  A few house keeping things: We have put up: http://www.demigodthegame.com/opengames.asp for people who want to keep up with the number of people online which includes also the number of current games, open games, and lurkers. Second, with v1.1 you can kind-of control the AI with the P (ping) key.  Just mouse over where you want the AI to go and it will tend to go there unless it decides there’s a higher priority objective but i...
