There's been some bumps lately in terms of Stardock being able to get "stuff out there" to users. Why is that? This article talks about the back end of what's been going on.
Holy cow what a year it has been at Stardock. 10 years ago, Stardock was an OS/2 developer. If you were with us from the OS/2 days, comment below. We'd love to hear what some of your favorite OS/2 experiences were. If 10 years ago someone had told us that we'd be helping Microsoft on Windows Vista projects and have top-rated turn based strategy game of the year we would have never believed it. So what were some of the highlights of last year? February: Galactic Civiliza...
I don't know about you but I hate having to wait until the end of the year to read those "best of" lists. This is doubly true because those lists almost always favor things released near the end of the year. Well, we're half-way through 2007 already and so here's our list of the top 5 coolest things we've seen so far this year! #1 Erector Spykee Robot . A brilliant idea made real. This is a remote control robot that has a microphone and camera on it tha...

Impulse is the greatest thing since sliced bread...yada yada yada.
But how good is it really? Ultimately, only you will be able to decide. What I'm going to do here is give my personal opinion on how Impulse stands on the eve of its launch.
For years, PC makers have competed with one another largely on price. PCs, it was said, were nothing more than a commodity. But over the past couple of years, consumers have begun to take the overall experience a lot more seriously. Last year's successful launch of the Apple iPhone made clear to cell phone makers that yes, the experience a "commodity" provides for the customer matters. PC makers have begun to take note and leading the way is Dell who began pre-loading th...
Converting media files from one format to another is a pain in the rear often times. Lifehacker has a good article on this. Check out the whole thing here . Incidentally, I highly recommend Ulead Video Studio for dealing with HD.
It's hard to believe 2008 is starting to come to an end. The yearly snapshot of Object Desktop is starting to come together. This year, however, we're doing to do some things differently. First, we're going to release a lot of updates/new features with the snapshot instead of releasing putting things out bit by bit in the months leading up to it. This way, the release is more of an event. Object Desktop Today Let's first start off with Object Desktop as it is today:

The Thinkpad T400 laptop from Lenovo is brand new. It's a great laptop - best I've owned so far though it's a little glitchy right now with docking stations. The gotcha I've had is that it only has two DIMM slots (two memory slots). It requires DDR3 memory too. But this week, Crucial has started selling 4 GB memory DIMMS (so I can now get 8 gigs). So I have the order in and hopefully this week I'll be able to upgrade. I realize this seems incredibly geeky but I'm very excit...
My wife got a new laptop and she wants her setup on laptop A to be the same as laptop B. She's not very technical and I'm dangerously lazy. What program would you recommend us use to transfer everything (OS, settings, accounts, etc.) over to the new machine with the least fuss? Thanks!
