Check out this quickie video for WindowFX 5 coolness http://screencast.com/t/ZipMGksIV Beta shows up for Object Desktop users early next year.
If you’re an Object Desktop customer or a user of any of Stardock’s non-games, you’ll soon be getting emails from us telling you to begin migrating to the new Stardock Central. A year ago, retail giant, GameStop acquired Stardock’s Impulse to run handle their worldwide digital distribution requirements. As part of our agreement, Impulse was required to support Stardock’s non-game software for a period of time after the transfer. GameStop has held up its part of the agreement and...
In October 2013, Stardock will be turning 20 (incorporation date). The first software product we made was…Galactic Civilizations. I began working on it in early 1992 while in college and it went into public beta at the start of 1993. It was “published” by a guy going by “Advanced Idea Machines” who also designed, ahem, the box. Galactic Civilizations for OS/2 box (we had nothing to do with this..box) I was going through my stuff today and ...
Back in the early days of Stardock, style of dress and the way pictures were taken was very different. Pictured from left to right: Pat Ford (T-Man) Angie Marshall (Karmagirl) Me (Frogboy) Kurt Westerfeld (lead developer of Object Desktop for OS/2) Mike Duffy (lead developer of the Pear game library we used right into 2003) Maurice Saylor (Sales manager) Melanie Westerfeld
In the good old days of gaming, the game studios weren’t public and so they could give little sneak peeks and teasers of things they’re working on. Unfortunately, the number of indie studios is dwindled and so there’s very little spontaneity in what companies share (which the Xbox One unveil showed us can be quite a bummer). Below is just some artwork from a few of the things that are in development.

Keep a close eye on the Stardock sites tomorrow… Tomorrow, Stardock turns 20! Tomorrow. Tomorrow. October 15, 2013.
Today is the 20th anniversary of Stardock’s incorporation. Having my own company was never my intention. It sort of just happened. What started in my dorm room has, over the past 20 years, expanded into an exciting but sometimes maddening adventure. Twenty years ago I was a college student at Western Michigan University studying to become an electrical engineer. My mom and I had moved to Michigan when I was four years old, and she had taught me the importance of working and saving fr...
version 0.50 1992 My friend Bill and I used to come up with comics and draw them out. He would later help on the art on our first game. 1993: Worst. Box. Ever. Started a lifetime suspicion of “business” people. So much retconning. GalCiv for OS/2! My future wife and I got engaged that year. 1994: And married the next year. ...
Far be it for me to hype something we make but...HOLY COW is this awesome! GET IT GET IT GET IT!
I haven’t done one of these in a while but holy cow so many cool things going on with so many things being announced so recently that I think we owe it to you guys to share what’s happening here. So as some of you know, Stardock’s an “indie” in the sense that it’s still owned and run by its founder (me). So there is no question whatsoever who I am responsible to: My coworkers and you. I don’t have stock holders to please and that lets us do lots...

The lead designer of the Sorcerer King website is a fierce warrior! The man in charge, Derek “Kael” Paxton is a great buddy! GalCiv III lead designer, Paul “Mormegil” Boyer is a smooth operator. My son…is…I’m n...
Hi team! Here are some of the pics. I think Bruce or someone might have a lot more pics, these are some of the ones I got. First off, I apologize for not getting more. I’m not a good photographer. If any of you (Stardockians) want to send me photos to put up, go ahead and I’ll update. GalCiv III team! Well, some of them anyway. Future developer! (or artist!) This picture makes me feel 20 years older. I’ve known the little ones parents si...
