New version faster, uses fewer resources..
Published on March 6, 2005 By Frogboy In WinCustomize News
Kapsules is a .NET based widget enabling program similar to Konfabulator but is freeware and supports Windows Scripting Host scripting (instead of just JavaScript).

Version 0.9.8.40 is a major step forward for the program.  The new version focused on stability, resource usage and cleaning things up as it prepares for its final release.

Thanks guys.

Resource usage was also given special attention for .40, and memory use is back down around what it was for some of the early versions of Kapsules. While Kapsules is still not for the 'memory (RAM) challenged' it is by far the most memory efficient version.

For those who arent familiar with Kapsules, the bit about using the Windows Scripting host is a big deal. Eight scripting languages are officially supported; VBScript, JScript, VB.NET, JScript.NET, RubyScript, PerlScript, Python and PHPScript. However, there are a ton more WSH/ActiveScripting enabled languages that could be used, in theory.

Question: Doesn't DesktopX do everything that kapsules does?
on Mar 06, 2005
Doesnt a Ford do everything a Chevy does?

More clarification - Version 0.9.8.40 was released today, version 0.98 has never existed. Version 0.9.8.40 is NOT a beta.

Really liking this relase... now if I can just fix the stupid WeatherBar widget I'd be so happy (goes very well with KoL's Kuantum). Been pulling my hair out with this for an hour now and can see no reason why the images aren't been drawn

Going through the dev guide and double checking everything... damn I must stupid as I can't see the problem.

I like this program a lot. I won't lie, I don't use it that often (but I don't use any widget application that often and I have 5 installed!), but I do like it. This looks like a nice update.

Does anyone have the Kapsules.exe file they can email to me? Everytime I try to download it, all I get is an index or html file, not the exe file at all, it asks to save or open but I get nothing. There doesn't seem to be any mirror sites, searched google and they all seem to lead back to Kapsules home. I'd really appreciate it if someone could email it to me.....Thanx Email
