The first 3 rows are ones I set.
The second 3 rows are just ones MS’s “frequently used” populated.
edit: columns!!!
This early, I haven’t used much.
These are the apps I first install onto a new PC. What are the first apps you install?
Kinda confusing, given that there's 5 rows.
One of my first installed is Firefox with either Advanced System Care or Wise Care 360 next. While I use MS' built in AV app, I also install Ashampoo's AV early in the piece as well. Then I install my Stardock apps along with Winstep Xtreme. After that I install my video and music apps for editing and converting, etc.
After that it's whatever I find useful, like RightClick Enhancer..... while not forgetting various drivers as required. For graphics card drivers I prefer the proper Nvidia or AMD drivers to the generic ones MS put out.... same with my Soundcard drivers and associated software, I prefer the Creative Labs releases.
I'll be accused of sucking up, but the first things I install are the Stardock apps. Can't be doing anything on an ugly desktop.
Then the tweaks, system and graphics apps. Then comes Steam.
"edit: columns!!!"
Boy, now I'm even more confused.
Nope....not 'sucking up', simply practical. All my 10 machines get Start10 and Fences asap - in particular.
Only one that didn't is my main machine....no Start10 on that one....no point as it's Win 7 ....
The start panel looks useful and ugly.
Ditto: re the ugly part. I never liked Microsoft's tiles idea at all. Yeah, they may be useful and are glorified icons, but they're still butt ugly.... an obscenity I will never allow to remain on my desktop.
Still wondering if Iconpackager will ever be adapted to change the start menu icons as well as desktop shortcuts. I mean, it is somewhat limited in what it can do, given how much Windowblinds can do.
Just sayin'
I kinda like this look.
It's better but the icons/tiles are still ugly and detract from the theme. I haven't got to it as yet, but I want to change all the ugly icons on my new setup so that my PC of the future isn't ruined by tacky looking Fisher Price-like icons.
Right now, I get frustrated trying to find an icon package where the live folders actually work.
Mine now.
Though I don't know how to change the text color in Start10.
I don't see a setting for that either, Brad. I wonder if it is even a function of Start10?
The text colour is automatically chosen between black and white to maximize visibility.
Yup, same here.... don't know whether it's an Iconpackager issue or due to something MS has done. Either way, it is frustrating, especially when moving or deleting a folder's contents.... the 'live' folder does not reflect the changes as it once did. Sometimes if I go out of the parent folder and return later the changes are reflected, but not always.
Not sure if I understand you two correct but thought I reply just incase. Have either of you tried Delta by J. Aroche ?? I just checked and it did reflect the changes when I tried with a new folder, added a document and then deleted it. Then again, it is from 2008 so both of you most likely have tried it.
