Brad Wardell's site for talking about the customization of Windows.

Every few months I write something that incites a twitter mob.  There are people out there are compelled to right the smallest of wrongs by hurling days of abuse at the villain.

As the said villain, I’ve developed many different strategies for dealing with these mobs.

This week’s outrage: A pronoun joke (someone demanding to be referred to as "they" instead of "he" or "she" while referring to the other person as "honey" and siccing her (sorry their) followers on him in which he sub-tweeted the exchange which is where it came onto my timeline where I always enjoy tweaking rude people who are conversely easily offended.

But there is always something for the outrage miners to whip themselves into hurling abuse at someone.

Here are a few examples.

It’s not that I intentionally try to offend.  I just don’t put in any effort not to offend.  Maybe I should.  But as I wrote 10 years ago: I’m going to do what I’m going to do.

"More" to come.

I once talked to a man who was almost retired who

said he was the only one who really existed just him and god.

I am starting to believe him.

There's a reason these people are called 'snowflakes', they take offense at everything.

They like to pretend they are social justice warriors in order to feel good about themselves, but in truth, the only thing they're trying to do is control others by fear. They label everything they don't agree with or is not politically correct as 'hate speech', 'misogyny' and 'racism', and will go out of their way to destroy other people and/or their livelihood. Yet they still think of themselves as the good guys - when all they're doing is de-humanizing others by labeling them as 'nazis', and other idiotic labels like that, in order to justify,  in their own minds, their aggression.

The denial of reality and common sense in these people has reached such epidemic levels that it would even be funny, if it wasn't so serious and so dangerous by the proportion this is taking. Ironically, THEY are the true monsters.

I deal with the internet mob in the most perfect way.   Avoid them like the plague.  I don't do social media and I only visit one forum group, here at Stardock.

I keep hearing about the trolls and wankers on facebook, etc, who seem to take pleasure in bringing others down, and I keep saying to those who keep crying about it: why bother going there if all you meet is trolls and wankers who upset you?

Nope, Wincustomize and Stardock forums are enough for me.  Besides, I'm 65 in May and don't need to broaden my horizons [I pretty much know everything already ] and I'm quite comfortable in my own skin and surroundings, so I don't give a flying fech what anybody thinks of me anymore.

Having depression taught me one thing.... to grow a thicker skin... otherwise I'd be forever crying in my beer, which I prefer to dilute just a little with a little lemonade or lime juice.  Yeah, tears turn it yucky salty flavour and it's seriously not a good taste.  Just ask Jafo.  He's in Victoria but drinks South Australian beer.  Well who wouldn't?  Victorian beer is enough to make and discerning drinker cry.

Anyhow, Brad, keep being rude to the trolls and wankers.... we could use the comedic relief.

I'm a retired Marine , I've made a life of offending people because I won't go along with their politically correct bullshit.

OH! Beautiful!   *Claps*
I love when people demand respect, even though they don't respect your way (they would have the higher ground if Brad was offensive... but he wasn't)
Oh well... C'est la vie~

'They' can dish it out but 'they' can't take it. I ya can't pay don't play.

I used to be that way when people left themselves open for it, but then I realised that it often took me down to their level and sometimes started a war I didn't need.   Nowadays I say similar things but with tongue-in-cheek so as not to offend.  I found that adding a bit of humour rather than being nasty was the better way to go.

Yeah, that's right, I should have been a diplomat.

I like the attitude a certain Angus Young had regarding trollish criticism....

I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sounds exactly the same, In fact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same.

One of my fave comebacks was from the great statesman, Winston Churchill, when he responded to a female MP....

"Sir, if I were married to you I would poison your coffee."

"Madam, If I were married to you I would drink it,"

And another of his quick witted retorts....

"Sir, you are drunk!"

"Yes madam, and you are ugly.... but I, madam, will be sober in the morning."
