There's only a week left! That's just so hard to believe that we're almost there.

Looks like there's going to be another public update tonight. They want to test out some installer improvements and...well since they were doing that, we snuck in some tweaks, fixes and I ninja-checked in some AI improvements.

The team that started Fallen Enchantress includes virtually everyone who made Galactic Civilizations II (and expansions).  It's been a real joy seeing the team together again and teaming them up with Derek (Kael) and Jon (Shafer).

For me, it's been a much more enjoyable experience than anything I've worked on before. Having someone dedicated to the design and to the project itself has made a huge difference to both team morale and the quality of the game.

Just after lunch today, with my iPhone in hand, I went through Studio A's lab area and talked to some of the coders and artists. Here's the video:

I downloaded the new Beta patch on 10/16/2012 and none of the generated maps have trees..

It's an installer issue. Supposed to be fixed in .991, so you might try getting that patch and see if that fixes it.

Thank you Lord Reliant.

I love this game a whole lot and am eagerly looking forward to it as much as anyone else but the last several patches seem to have introduced quite a few new issues. I sure hope that you are on top of everything and can get the release version into better shape in what's now only 6 days. I have to admit that this concerns me a bit. I hope you will consider delaying the release a little to fix more stuff if you find it is needed. You're so close to the prize, don't blow it now at two ticks to midnight. Godspeed.

I'm with the girl in black about the ctrl+n. Never use it.

I lower my head in shame. I use Ctrl-N.

There is no shame in using CTRL+N, each player should play the game they think is fun, I don't mind a rough start, but sometimes I use it because I just want that good start, usually I run with the rough one (4/2/1 is rather rough for example).
To people reloading and using Ctrl+N, keep playing the game the way you think is fun!

CTRL+N makes sense. In a game with random map generation there's always a chance you will come up with a practically unwinnable starting point especially on higher difficulty levels. I like sticking with tough starts for the adventure and challenge of it, but if my goal was to win the game on the highest difficulty settings I wouldn't think twice about using it to my advantage.
