Brad Wardell's site for talking about the customization of Windows.

Stardock has had ObjectDock floating around internally for a long while. But with the recent releases of a host of "dock" programs we figured it was time to go ahead and let people give it a try.

ObjectDock is a task manager / program launcher that does it with style. It was created to test out new Object Desktop technologies for seeing what could and couldn't be done reasonably on Windows 2000/XP. It's inspired by the dock on MacOS X (which is one of the reasons why we've never made it available previously and why it's freeware).

Feel free to post news on this elsewhere. This isn't a "product", it's more of a technology demo that we've made freely available. Make sure you read the page carefully.

Very very good! Still a little unstable when minimizing windows from the dock, but works nicely! We now need themes, and the ability to move it around!!! I still need a way to see my systray though... it should be added someway! Anyway, again thanks for the great work, and thanks for releasing it to the public... we're not worthy !

Great work, but one question....can I add icons to the choose image field?
Adding a new shortcut w/ give the applications default icon, but is there a way to change this without using the pre-selected icons?
Thanks

Great stuff pulled here by the experts. Only I wish it was more customizable like positioning and skins. Anyhow fun thing.I can hardly wait for the sequel to it.

i'm usually not a huge fan of stardock's software, but this one blew me away, A very nice emulation that's beaten only by Y'z version. A little more work to do on it and it will be a #1 product.

@Cheetah : Copy Pics You want into the the ObjectDock folder, using a subfolder like 'My Pics' or something else.

I really like it and it has GREAT potential with minor improvements. I really need it to dock elsewhere. How do I move it?

@Paul : I changed some bitmaps in ObjectDock.exe using ResHack.

I don't know if anyone's noticed this or not, but if you grab the little vertical line between the active tasks and the first icon (it's near the left hand side, if you have at least one program running)... by dragging the mouse up and down, you can resize the overall dock.... very cool

you can actually make it really small, but you have to do it by clicking the top of the line, and dragging down as far as your mouse will go - you may have to do it multiple times, since your mouse won't go down lower than the bottom of the screen

Dixon, you can do the same thing by adjusting the Normal Dock Item Size in the config.
