We’re on the last day of PAX.  If you want to get into the beta, you can still do so by pre-ordering it.  After the beta goes out, the beta will be closed to new users until next year.

Note: The beta will NOT be fun. These are real betas. The game mechanics are only partially implemented and subject to radical change based on player suggestions.

Still a game of this EPIC scale is something I want to be apart of! How was PAX Frogboy? Was it anything like the Gamestop Store Manager Conference? My Store Manager just got back.

Quick when's the first day of fall!?!?! D:

Oh and happy bug hunting... reminds me of Animal Crossing

EDIT:

September 22, 2009 at 5:18 pm EDT. So it should be before then :3 The 17th maybe?

Okay, okay. You got my pre order Stardock =P

Summer ends around the 22nd of September.  With that said release of Beta should be around before the 22nd.

Edit: Just glad it isn't going to be in October, that statement in that video from PAX disheartened me.

Glorious. I'm going to have a hell of a lot of fun just to prove you wrong. Can't wait to watch the game grow up before our eyes.

Ditto, also participating in the beta just to be able to claim some (however small) involvement in the game's development, since i expect it to become a hugely popular game (on par with CivIV)

I just hope I don't miss my pay-pal window of opportunity.

So I am wondering, will the option to download the beta just show up some day? Will we get a notification ahead of time, at what point (date) should we investigate NOT being able to download the beta?

I pre-ordered in November last year, just nervous.

Glad to see it isn't October as well.  This will give me something new to do at work.

I am expecting this game to be bigger then you guys are thinking as well, though maybe not as big as I think (I see potential for it being a top 10 title of 2010 saleswise, seriously)

Elemental will be a great success, but top 10? No freaking way. 2010 is looking to be full of some of the biggest heavy-hitting blockbusters of all time. Elemental could (and probably will) be top 10 quality, but not top 10 sales.

That is for sure. Turn based strategy games are not so popular [sadly...], compared to MMORPGs and FPS games.

Sales? Probably not. Awards? Hell yes. Look at Sins. I was in it from beta 1 and I didn't expect it to get as many awards that it did (I didn't really think about it either, but I'm really glad it did though!).

I disagree.  It'll take the crown.  There's so many more systems targeted for such a mainstream game..  Blockbusters are nice, but they tend to target smaller numbers of users and specialized populations.  TBS may be a really niche genre, but if it can run on every computer, that's a much bigger potential market.

That said, it probably won't win in the press and the headlines, although it might at retail and digital distribution...  And hey, not only did Sins win awards, it sold excellently, too.

Be honest, anyway, what wins?  Warcraft expansions and The Sims expansions.  Third place is wide open.  Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3?  Could do it. (although I'm not holding my breath).  That would put it in fifth place..  certainly top 10.

i just bought Civ4, and lookin around at elemental got me thinking that if its anything like Civ4 im goign to love it. and by like Civ4 i mean the play style with Turnbased. ive never palyed one before civ4, so it outta be fun. cant wait for Beta.

It very well could be a top seller. While common wisdom with publishers seems to be that only FPSes and the like can sell a lot, there are a good number of strategy fans out there and they don't get a lot of games. Civ 4 did real well when released, was the top seller for a time.
