Whenever someone argues that if you raise taxes too much then most productive and successful people will begin to withdraw their talents, another person will say “And someone else will step up and replace you.”  Every time.

In fact, in the comments section of “Going John Galt on Obama” I wrote "Thus, if the government begins to do things to the movers and shakers of our society, you can be sure that it will “trickle down” to everyone else.” a liberal user responded:

...and a whole new group of "movers and shakers" will evolve and/or the old ones will adapt to the changing conditions and times

Well, Detroit Michigan, starting with the 68 riots and culminating with the long adminstration of Coleman young effectively drove away the “movers and shakers” from Detroit.

It’s still waiting for someone to replace them.

forget Detroit Michigan... look at communism... the soviet union and communist china... both were on a steady decline from the moment they penalized success to the moment they STOPPED penalizing success... and ever since they stopped penalizing it a new crop of movers and shakers came about.

Nobody is gonna "step up" or "evolve" for the "new conditions" if the new conditions are merely "success is punished"

If conditions are bad enough to drive away people who are already successful, imagine how bad they would be to people who are just starting out.  I don't think many people would be willing to even try.

Wow, that picture of the U.A.T. hurts...to let such beautiful architecture just rot like that really sucks.

Could WE buy it and put on 'GalCiv: The Musical'

I was just starting a small bis before we got obama, let just say I am focusing more on college and considering other countries for business... I spend 9 years to become a US citizen, and now I consider emigrating to a less socialist country to follow the american dream of starting my own business. It is as ironic as it is sad.
