This screenshot is of a test on low-end hardware (playing on my laptop) to see how well the game scales between relatively low-end hardware. As incredible the graphics are in Demigod, the hardware requirements are the same as Forged Alliance (Geforce 66x series / ATI Xanything or better).

But here's the first look at the Citadel upgrades coming in Beta 2.  The GPG team is working hard to get Beta 2 ready to go, there's just so much stuff coming together and we are pleased to mention that Demigod will be the first Stardock game with a worldwide release in multiple languages which is another reason Beta 2 is running a bit late - we're having to get all the translation stuff put together.

Stay tuned.

Not true. I can still see the portals. They are just placed differently.

I said moved, not removed.

First I am glad to see the upgrades in the cathedral this will be a great asset to general. However I see that the assassin has this ability as well. I understand that the code to upgrade affects the cathedral but what this does is make the assassin overpowered and unbeatable 1 on 1 against a general. What I see here is the assassin framing the general creeps both portal and spawned level up and killing the general over and over again. This is why the general should build a barracks that the assassin does not get because to balance the creeps of the general should always be more powerful than the assassin.

How does the ability of each player to upgrade creep and defense mechanics make Assassins over-powered compared to Generals?  How do you get from this conclusion to barracks?  Why do Generals need barracks to make their troops?

Yeah, making assumptions like that about balance is just stupid.  Unbeatable?  Overpowered?  Have you considered that maybe Generals' unique units are awesomely unbalanced and will crush the portal creeps, or might just be balanced?  Obviously not.  Consider both sides of the argument next time plzkthx.

I think the faster spawn rate is not that wise though, since it gives the enemy more gold and expierience. The old war idol was changed to prevent this afaik.

Thanks for the info keep it up frogboy.

Everything seems to be coming along great, but seeing that minimap makes my day. No more need to mod in another world-cam as an ugly makeshift minimap!

on Dec 06, 2008

yah tesb faster spawn rate might hurt yourself more than the enemy, but then it can also be used to overwhelm your enemy and win. Spending money on something which only gives you an advantage on certain situations is an interesting concept I think especially as you have also the option to upgrade the strength of your troops if you don't want to take that risk.

on Dec 06, 2008

Maybe upgrading the strength of your troops will increase the bounty on them?

Remember, these upgrades cost gold, so you're trading off the opportunity to buy your +80 hit points regen item and have the beast's ooze turned on permanently, which I will bet you is easily worth 9000gp worth of creep upgrades.

on Dec 06, 2008

Alot of people are complaining about faster spawn rate but i think if u get a couple upgrades for creeps like increased health or something, having a larger spawn would be pretty nice. Also what if your a general, then a larger spawn would be pretty nice on top of their special units.

lprometheus just because the assasin gets them too does'nt mean the assasins overpowered. They are probobly even before cathedral udgrades so if they gave them only to general he might be overpowered. Also making a general have to make abarracks to make units is stupid because then he'd have to pay for it. Generals get their own special units from castle or something. I forgot maybe they can just make them, I saw it somewhere but now I have forgotten.

I for one would likely never invest any points into Increasing Spawn rates or Increasing the number of units spawned at any given time. I would simply view it as an oppurtunity for my enemy to gain more experience points. I would likely lean towards investing into more HP and Armor for my units so my enemies would get fewer experience points, due to the increased difficulty of the units they'll be facing. I'd also try to avoid investing into higher end units, such as healers, for a while because they also give nice big chunks of experience points as well.

In short, I'd try to use the upgrades to slow down my enemy's progress and income by giving them fewer things to kill.

I probobly would too and lean torwards stronger units but for some generals alot of units might be  good.
