Brad Wardell's site for talking about the customization of Windows.

With the Impulse launch this week along with The Political Machine 2008 release, it's been a busy week. But for our next magical trick, we're also releasing the first significant update to Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor.  You can get a preview of some of the changes here.

You will need to use Impulse to get it. Go here to get Impulse.

I just reinstalled Impulse yesterday due to it just sitting there with the "Downloading Impulse Update - Connecting" message up the entire time it was running. It still only showed TA as available and not installed so I tried the regedit solution. That didn't seem to work since TA still says Available and now it is back to sitting there with the downloading update message again. Seems I may not be getting the new update either. I'm starting to tire of having to reinstall this thing(this wasn't the first time) and then hand editing the registry to get things to work in it(a second time for that as well).

I want to be excited about Impulse, but right now I'll just have to wait till these issues are resolved before jumping in the deep end.

Twilight 1.95 should be up on both later today if all goes well.

Got it! Wheee! Now I can resume my game, in which I was just about to finish building the apparently crash-inducing Gravity Accelerators...

I just updated from SDC. Thanks again, Stardock. I know running two distribution systems must roughly double somebody's (Cari's?) effort for a routine task. Your kindness to change-resisters is much appreciated.

I had to do the Regedit thing to get impulse to even see Twilight, but when I tried to upgrade to 1.95 it could not uninstall. SDC upgraded it fine, but Impulse still have an ! on it and says it is not installed correctly. Though it won't uninstall it either.

I don't see anything on SDC, maybe I'm doing something wrong ?!? I check for application updates and nothing.

Yes! Thank You for offering the patch through SDC .

Did you try Tools | Settings | Internet | Refresh XML Data?

Yes ... and still nothing. I've downloaded the game when I bought it, so I guess this isn't a network problem, I think. But still, I can't draw any hasty conclusions.

I've updated the game via Impulse ... with no hassle at all. Afterwards I opened SDC and I got the update for ... DA 1.80g.103. I guess I will have to re-archive the game and his expansions in .impulse format, to have it later on, just in case, who knows.

Just did the updates over the last 10 mins via Impulse

Opened Impulse (at this point TA shown as not installed)

- Clicked on update for Political Machine, it restarted.
- On restart it detected an update to Impulse.
- After update it loaded Political Machine update
- By now TA showing as update available.
- TA update installed fine, opened up fine.

Whatever all the updates were, they all installed fine - painless - just needed a short wait between updates for it to do its thing. Whatever the problems were, they are not there now - at least not as at 10 mins ago.

All appeared to work "as designed" no hassles.

Regards

Duh- then, it's my mistake not to be able to find it on the newly installed Impulse!

Strangely though, the initial OP claimed it to be ready (lemme check - nope, again my mistake; it clearly says **This week**). Re_duh!
Bof, better soon than never.

Too bad that you fixed the planets listing in the espionage scan to pull out the unknowns from the FOW though... i was getting used to the enhanced spying (but, an exploit) feature.
Btw, the term "enhancing" (for version 2.0) still applies to many other interesting things - i hope, right?
Cuz, i do have a trick or two up my sleeve when it comes to find out what an AI currently builds on their planets by consulting the left-side list panel -- indirectly, defeating the purpose of any exclusive Galactics if i KNOW when to buy it instead of letting anyone else complete it before me.
I'd see or recommend a spying edge for this type of info, also.

And of course, please do not forget my petpeeve - the PQ1-spy_bases!

Many Thanks for the hard work.

Impulse worked fine for me yesterday, the only problem being that it showed T)A as not installed ... so I just let it install it again (on top of the one I already had installed) and went to do something else for a while. Then, today, I got the update for TOA with no problem. It is a nice looking program, and I hope that the bugs are worked out quickly for those who are having problems. I agree with others, howeve, that SD should be kept active alongside of it at least for a while, if that is at all possible.

Got it from Stardock Central, installation went smoothly and without any problems. Thanks from a happy customer.

Hi

I have been trying to get the Twillight 1.95 from Stardock. But the the latest available is patch 1.91. I have been trying to update the settings like described above, but it doesn't work!

Tools | Settings | Internet | Refresh XML Data?

Can't install Impulse tried and crashed my PC, I have Vista Home.

I hope the patch will be available soon on Stardock. Thanks again for a wonderfull game.
