Maintainence release but 64-bit XP support added
Published on November 7, 2007 By Frogboy In WinCustomize News

Stardock has released WindowBlinds 6.01.  WindowBlinds is a program that allows users to completely change their Windows XP or Windows Vista visual experience. It does this by applying system-wide skins called visual styles.

Visual styles can change nearly every element of the Windows GUI from the Start menu, task bar, title bar, push buttons, scrollbars, and nearly everything other part of either Windows XP or Windows Vista.

WindowBlinds works by extending the native drawing routines of the operating system. It does not replace system files or modify data on the user's PC. It has been used by Microsoft, ATI, nVidia, Alienware, and countless other companies to create alternative visual styles to Windows.

WindowBlinds 6.01 is largely a maintainence release fixing reported bugs, tweaking performance, as well as adding support for 64-bit Windows XP (registered version only).

WindowBlinds is a free download and can be registered for $19.95. The registered version adds additional features such as colorization, font control, blur support, and more.  Users can also get the registered version as part of Object Desktop, Stardock's complete suite of desktop enhancement utilities.

Having a few other problems now, when I reboot Per Pixel seems to be disabled until I reapply the skin, the please wait dialog is now gone as well.

Im trying a full reinstall but the download seems to be hung. It keeps downloading the WB6.sdc

Does anyone have a straight link to WB6.01 enhanced? Im not trusting SDC installs at the moment...

Well .013 had the life expectancy of a gnat. A gnat with birth defects.....
It changed to .014 while I was halfway to clicking on it.

To Jafo:

Please look on my account. Every time on activation the Stardock Products I see the message tha my e-mail is wrong. Then I restart my computer and activate this program again. The activation works in this case.

Can you help me to correct this error in my account?

Cummon guys! Quit playing foosball and get it together over there at Stardock. WB6.01, 6.03, 6.04 all released withinin a few hours of eachother. Send the code to the test department before you push it and quit messing around putting out buggy code before it's ready.

That's weird I went from .012 to .014. Do I need .013?

I'm still trying to get the "best" solution for tonight. The initial issue was a file wasn't in sync on the server, but it's shown up a problem relating to upgrading x64 now. Fresh installs should be fine.

Kris, I installed .012 on my Vista Ultimate 64 system and everything was fine. When I installed .014, everything was hosed. Taskbar was windows classic-style. The start button was missing. Magic pink was everywhere on window frames and titlebar. Those things happened via upgrade path and with a freesh install. I guess I should've stayed with .012

OK, I believe I have everything sorted for the evening. It's at .20 now and it's forcing writing some files again on x64's. No code changes. Sorry for the bumps there. I'll keep watching this for a bit, but anything further is liable to be deferred until tomorrow.

The title of this post says "64 bit XP Support added". I have not seen any XP 64 users who were complaining (including me) saying anything. If it works, thank you very much!

Been busy at work. Did not login to SDC in a while. After seeing this post I logged in to SDC but it still says "Includes support for per-pixel alpha-blended skinning on Windows XP (32-bit) and Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit). WDDM drivers are strongly recommended for Windows Vista."

SDC description does not state XP 64 support.

Thanks Again. I have to reboot now

And.. It works!
Why do I have to enter registration information? With 5.x WB I only had to enter that information in SDC.
