Vista-ready, new look, new features
Published on April 19, 2007 By Frogboy In WinCustomize News

Stardock has released IconPackager 3.2. IconPackager is a program that can change all the icons on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista by applying entire icon sets called "icon packages".

IconPackager 3.2 adds support for Windows Vista including the new "live folders" feature of Windows Vista making it the first (and only) program to support changing the new icons on Windows Vista.

IconPackager 3.2 also supports changing individual icons from a new "change icon" context menu for documents and most other files (EXE's can even have their icon changed from their properties dialog -- see this article for more details).

IconPackager is a free download. The full version costs $14.95 or can be purchased as part of Stardock's Object Desktop suite which includes WindowBlinds, IconPackager, DesktopX, DeskScapes, ObjectBar, and more.

Good work
I am only curious about one thing. In the screenshot there are some iconpackages for Vista shown (Aqualix Vista, Farawaydream Vista, Frois Vista). But these iconpackages were not included into updated inconpackager I received through Object desktop. Will these packages available in the future?

I got them. Try reinstalling IconPackager.

When I installed Iconpackager through Stardock central(as an object desktop subscriber) on my Vista OS I found only 3 iconpackages: Local flavour Vista, Slicer Vista and Nicon Vista. I am afraid I will get the same result after uninstall and reinstall.Because I also installed IP 3.2 on my XP system (laptop PC) with the same result, only three Vista specific packages included (on XP these are not needed, but they were included with the updated build). May be someone who purchased iconpackager separately received more iconpackages included. I don't know.

Only 3 packages come with it. You can download more here off WinCustomize.

I have the latest build IconPackager 3.20.1.20 installed on my Vista PC and I think something is missing!

Where is the option to change the icon of a Drive? On Windows XP when you right click on a drive and click Properties there is a button called Icon. Why is this missing on Windows Vista? Is this a bug?

I downloaded and installed Icon Packager v3.20 (x86) on Vista Ultimate last night. The three initial icon packages work very well when I load them. When I download Icon packages from the Wincustomize and attempt to install them by either double clicking/Disk/or Web I get the following error:

Error: Failed to load SDCZip.dll
PLease reinstall the application to correct this problem.

So, as instructed, I reinstall and restart and the system then hangs. I hit reset and get back to my desktop. From there it's a rinse and repeat of the initial dilemma.

If anyone has a solution I would love to try it out and see if it lets me install Icon packages the way the software is intended to. For now I will try and mannually install Ip's and see if that is a reasonable work around for me. SOoooo many great Icon packages out there and I would really love so seem them grace my desktop with simple click of the mouse!

Thanks for the cool products SD,

Hey, Moletai, open Stardock Central and click on the plus sign next to Icon Packager, this will show Icon Set on a drop down. Install Icon Set and double click it, and you should have your 3 additional packages. Let me know if this worked for you.

I am sorry to post this, but the latest install of Icon Packager and Icon Set 3.20.127 and has erased my set of Local flavor Vista which I was enjoying a great deal   . The Icon Set does not contain 3 additional packages any longer instead it contains 2 Aqualix and Frois! May I please have Local flavor Vista again   please. **Edit** I fixed the problem in part through using Restore Archive of the prior release of Icon Set 3.20.009. Stardock Central was able to reinstall Local flavor Vista although I do not know why installing the latest release of Icon Set caused it to disappear in the first place. Maybe someone can check out what happened with this?

yeah for real it takes out the local flavor/easiest way to keep local flavor vista is to take the folder out of your iconpackager themes/update to the latest and then put it back in

I got the same problem, theres only 3 IP available and when I hit apply most icons wont load. only icons on the the start menu and at least two icon folder.

With the IP build 3.20.127 I got 2 additional packages (Frois and Aqualix) when clicking on plus sign next to iconpackager. But farawaydream vista still missing if of course it was supposed to be there. But at the moment my favourite is Slicer, so I can wait.
