Brad Wardell's site for talking about the customization of Windows.

If you’re an Object Desktop customer or a user of any of Stardock’s non-games, you’ll soon be getting emails from us telling you to begin migrating to the new Stardock Central.

A year ago, retail giant, GameStop acquired Stardock’s Impulse to run handle their worldwide digital distribution requirements.  As part of our agreement, Impulse was required to support Stardock’s non-game software for a period of time after the transfer.  GameStop has held up its part of the agreement and then some and now is the time to begin migrating to Stardock Central.

Now, because Stardock Central uses a different installation format, we have to manually migrate all the programs to it.  The net result is that on some programs, it will show updates or even programs you have installed as being available. If you’d like, you can just install on top of what you have and it should work fine.  But it also means that some programs won’t be available yet (mainly legacy ones).  So if there’s something you don’t see that’s available in Impulse – BACK IT UP.  It could be awhile before we get everything migrated to Stardock Central.

Only problem with that is that Impulse won't install Impulse Archives anymore. So, unless I misunderstand your meaning, it's useless to "back it up".

Now, if you meant back it up via the Stardock Store....then that is feasible.

Clicking on the link takes me to the beta download not the final one.

I have it, and I understand it. I just haven't had the time yet, to backup and reinstall.

Also Rosco, how about the political machine?

Is it okay for me to remove Impulse from my system now? Will I lose anything?
Yes. No.

Actually...if you haven't resubscribed to ODNT...the answer No and Yes. Just leave everything as it is...if you uninstall anything you may not get it back...stay tuned.

Can you guys come up with a way to say if you have all 3 of the games that make up trinity, but not trinity itself, to upgrade to it?  Same for GalCiv 2...  And do it in a way that I won't lose my special collector's edition content?  Aside from making it so you dont have to migrate your old aps, it would make it so I only have to do one instal and not 3 every time I upgrade systems.

So I finally got this email today telling me about the new Stardock Central.  I guess that means I gotta go through the lengthy process of uninstalling all the Stardock apps via Impulse and then reinstall 'em via Stardock Central, right?  Seems like a major pain but... eh... if it comes to that then I'll eventually get around to doing it.  Maybe by then I'll install some updates.

One question request in regards to GalCiv2.

GalCiv II Ultimate Edition is avaliable, but the individual games aren't.

One thing I'd like to see, if that folks who have GC2+ both expansions should get the ability to DL Ultimate edition.

I'm in the same situation Alstein. I own GC2 (retail), GC2+Dark Avatar (retail), and the Twilight Of The Arnor expansion on CD-ROM (from Stardock direct). I hope the good folks at Stardock can do something for customers like ourselves.

One lesson I've learned from this, is that I will never purchase software on any platform at launch again.

It's in the works. But in the meanwhile, you can still download/update those with Impulse if you registered them back when you got them.
