You're free to post about pretty much any topic here but please choose the right sub-forum for it.

There is one exception: NO posts regarding politics. If you wish to discuss politics, go to the Political forums at JoeUser.com or PoliticalMachine.com.

No politics allowed. They're bad for you.

Pollie-ticks?

on Feb 19, 2012

Them too.

Not that I would be particularly interested in discussing politics here, but now that it is prohibited, it makes me wonder for the reason behind that decision.

So anyone mind to explain why that was seen a necessary limitation?

The 'Architect' of these forums is a very nice chap called Frogboy. It is his overseeing/direction that has kept Stardock's forums one of the 'nicer' places on the Internet to inter-relate with others.

What you've just done is saying that Frogboy is a wise guy and thus his decisions must not be questioned.

It is not an actual answer to my question. Or are you trying to tell me that my question is unnecessary because wise decisions don't need an explanation and should be agreed to by anyone without having to know the reason behind them?

I'll venture a quess that the topic almost always results in flamewars and general member animosity.

I concur.

No, the owner of the forums you are posting in has decreed it, therefore, it is the law of the land, so to speak. The subject/rule is not open to debate as far as I know.

The reason (as I understand it) is simple: To avoid flame wars and animosity. I could be wrong.

There is another Stardock site, Joeuser.com which is designed to let all have their say on political and religious topics. Your sign in should work there as well. Although there is cross posting between certain Forums/sub-Forums, the political stuff is kept there per the owner's wishes. Not unreasonable, in my view.

Different sites have different rules, and if you're really all that interested, feel free to pm him and pursue the topic to your satisfaction.

The last half dozen or so responses have explained it.

Frogboy made the rule - the Admins and Mods police it.

The reason is to keep the forum section free from politically-based flame wars which do nothing other than to divide a social community who are either graphic designers or gamers [or both].

JoeUser is the place for discussing politics, etc as it has specific sections just for that purpose....

Good, safe rule, IMO.Jump! That was me jumping on board.

What's the politics behind this rule?

on Aug 09, 2013

Answer...There are none. Rules and regs...simple.
