after that put the cd key they send you and start downloading

Hey guys, do you think I will spoil the game for myself by joining in on the beta? I dont want to ruin it by knowing too much of how the game works. You know what I mean?

No.

If a game is to have replay value, it should be impossible to 'spoil the game.'

I put my CD-key into Impulse and it said succesfully registered and everything, but I still don't see a beta download anywhere.

What am I doing wrong?

Make sure you have ticked "Show pre-release versions" in the Impulse menu.

I did the same thing. I was all WTF, where is the download for the Beta!

After getting the game to work thanks to windowed mode, I just finished my first game with victory in about 220 turns No crashes whatsoever, glad to see the stability has been improved dramatically. Some odd graphics etc. bugs, which I'll report in the appropriate place. Just wanted to say good job guys   Next up: Time to try that multiplayer!

Hopefully my computer will survive (been having issues lately ).

OK, I DL Impulse.  Registered the Pre-order.  Shut down and restarted impluse, then set my view to demos and free.  Still no BETA.  What gives?

Solved it....did not set the client to show pre-release versions. 

wish I could agree on the stability issue. I can't even start a game now without a CTD.  I have a bug reprt but no error file yet (hopefully that will be resolved soon as well).  Basically, pretty bummed out but to be expected for a beta I guess.
