Brad Wardell's site for talking about the customization of Windows.

We’ve picked a tiny handful of the pre-order group to become alpha testers based on how many other betas they’ve participated in, forum karma, and a number of other criteria.

Those of you not in the alpha, fear not, you’re not missing very much. The beta is scheduled to come out around PAX (Penny Arcade Expo).

Be forewarned, we plan to close the beta shortly after PAX and it will remain closed for some months. Those who want to get the beta can pre-order the game.

I am leaning towards beta 1 being only cloth map in order to let beta testers have more input on the game mechanics (fewer assets to change if we accept a suggestion).

There will be an Alpha tour later this week (possibly tomorrow). Stay tuned.

Also, I doubt there is anything in the NDA banning you from lying to deny being selected

The NDA probably doesn't prevent you from lying, no... but honesty and honor does

'Damn you, random number generator!!!!!'More like "Damn you, slow parents!!!"

LOL, that is the first time I've ever seen someone curse his parents for not getting busy sooner.

True, but the only reason a person would refuse to answer is because they are under NDA and don't like lieing. (Not counting eets, who would refuse to answer just to stir up trouble...)

Well, or they could like teasing... Now that we all know that reasoning, it will be quite easy to convince someone you're under NDA, right?

Is three and a half years too much to ask...... who stays engaged for eight years, anyway?

Well, undoubtably they were practicing the entire time.

Yea buddy, bleach *that* imagine from your mind

As Brad would say, Stardock betas are explicitly designed NOT to be fun in order to ensure the final release IS fun for the beta testers. The alpha will be more like torture.

What about the whips? Will there be whips there?

Only if you play as the Fallen.

Some companies use level caps, area lockouts, and the like to ensure that beta testers focus on the elements developers feel need testing. In keeping with their cutting-edge policies on subjects like DRM, Stardock will be breakign new ground in beta-testing by premiering the use of whips to control the focus of beta testers.

I was wondering. The 100 chosen ones are goin to have their names on the game credits? Something like "Guinea pig testers : lalala, lalala, lalala"

What are these strange and incomprehensable concepts you speak of?

As a fanatical Master of Magic fan I would like to lodge a protest against the cloth map alpha, based on the screenshots we've already seen. Clearly you are focussing far too much on graphics. Dammit, if 640x480 was good enough then it's good enough now! Also, I am demanding you insert more bugs, so the release version can match that of MoM.

You got lucky. I missed out by a measly 6 months I could of lied about my age, but I wanted to do the right thing (and not face any legal repercussions )
