So here we have this scenario:
Between 1998 and 2001 a zillion really neat websites are created at great expense. They then run out of funding and the companies go out of business or are forced to sell. The sites have a ton of traffic but the sites have no way to make money off that traffic.

Enter in a handful of corporations who are making good money who snap up all these sites at bargain basement prices...

From the Coolplayer home page:

"Hi all! After the downfall of and there is a new leading player in the skins business. It's and they
have added a CoolPlayer Skins section! I hope all skinners will upload their old and new skins to this site, so it will live long and prosper!"

Even after only a few days, thanks to the help of the community and in particular Ken Ray from Teknidermy, the section has over 20 skins and is actually catching up on WinA...

In the past few months, we've all seen a lot of great websites go away due to lack of income. The problem those sites have is that they were relying on banner ads. Even Yahoo is having problems.

A skin site is very expensive to run. In fact, as skinning has become increasingly popular, it's become even harder to have a good skin site. So the ultimate in cruel ironies -- the success of the skinning community has been effectively wiping out the skin sites. That's because downloading a ski...

WebBlinds turns Internet Explorer into a skinnable web browser. The new beta actually improves the performance of loading pages in IE as well as detects when pop-up banner ads are about to be launched and greatly reduces them. WebBlinds is currently free in beta and can be downloaded at Stardock's website.

Here are this month's website results:

Traffic was significantly higher this month than last month. We had 271,377 visitors this month with ~140,000 of them being unique people. This translates into several million page views. A 45% increase over April. I don't think we'll see that kind of increase in June.

94% of our users were using Internet Explorer. 4% were using Netscape and 2% were using something else. That's very unuusal as Netscape has roughly a 25% browser share.

Discovery Magazine has an article in it by Brad Lemley that makes predictions on the future. When one looks at where we've been in just the last 30 years (people were using typewriters for correspondence and computers were gigantic things) it's scarey to think where we'll be in 30 years. Check out the article, it's great.

Stardock has released ObjectBar beta 0.50 onto its Object Desktop Network (ODNT). ObjectBar is a powerful yet easy to use Start bar replacement.

Nearly every OS has some sort of dock, wharf, bar, finder, center, what have you either docked onto the edge of the screen or free floating. Each OS's equivalent has its own strenghts.

ObjectBar takes all the strengths of those various bars and combines them into a single program. With it, users can easily create their own bars that can have ...

This is the 4th E3 report I’ve done. At the end of this report are links to the past 3 E3 reports. I work for a company that makes games – Stardock (Stardock Entertainment being the part that makes games). I was there to meet with people from the press to talk about our three upcoming games:

LightWeight Ninja – a really cool new side-scroller with per-sprite alpha blending and Internet f...
